Pretentious Word of the Day (Day 86)

Since I have given myself the task of trying to blog every day yet have no topics ready to discuss, let's talk about being pretentious. Sometimes people can be pretentious to you. One way to ward them off is to pretend to be pretentious yourself. Other than filling your house with hardcover classics that have tea stains on them, a good way of being pretentious is to use big words that no one else uses.

Our word today comes from Webster's Third New International Dictionary (and Seven Language Dictionary): UnabridgedVolume I, which was published in 1966 by G. & C. Merriam Co. Volume I contains the letters A-G. I have randomly selected a word from within and it is 'cabildo'. 'Cabildo' is either; "the chapter house of a cathedral or collegiate church", or "a town council or town hall in a country that was formerly a Spanish colony". I might use it like this in conversation: "I was in the cabildo the other day when I saw....(fill in with something worth talking about)." Why don't you go ahead and try it out? See what ways you can think of to talk about a cabildo. Have fun.
